The Boonville Fire Department is composed of both volunteer and career staff members. The need for volunteer members has never been greater! Since our establishment in 1941, the dynamics of the local population, economics, firefighting operations and the personal values of people themselves have drastically changed. We are neighbors helping neighbors and rely tremendously on volunteer members with only a few paid members. The simple facts are fewer people have a desire to volunteer for their community. We understand it is a busy world with economic uncertainty, people working multiple jobs, caring for children and family, and perhaps attending school. But frankly if everyone used that excuse, we would not have any members and could not operate. Our current members are just like most of our citizens because our members are also our community citizens. If you have a burning desire or even the slightest interest in giving back to your community, please consider joining. If you have questions before you apply, please contact us or feel free to stop by the firehouse and speak to one of our members. This is a great, exciting organization and not only benefits others but can benefit you as well. See the Member Benefits page for details on what benefits you directly for being a member of our department! For details on joining either workforce with our department, see the details below. Thank you for your interest in membership to our mostly volunteer organization!
Volunteer Applicants
The Boonville Volunteer Fire Department accepts applications year round for volunteers. No previous experience or certifications are required! Many people ask what is required and how much time does it take to be a volunteer firefighter. The great news is that the requirements to join are minimal and the requirements to sustain membership are very easy and take a lot less time that what you may think. See our Meetings and Training page for specific details on requirements to sustain membership.
