Car 13 is 2003 Ford Expedition SUV that is utilized as a duty officer and command vehicle. The vehicle is used to staff an officer or senior firefighter who can function as the overall incident commander on large scale incidents in particular. The vehicle is also utilized for travel to offsite training events. Car 13 is also utilized in the department’s duty officer program which allows a qualifying member of the department to keep the vehicle with them in the district including at their home for periods of 12 or 24 hours. This method assists in our daily and nightly staffing and in cutting response times down to many of our incidents, especially medical calls. Response times would otherwise be increased, especially during times where our paid staff are not on duty at the station.
