Application Process

Volunteer Applicants:

The Boonville Volunteer Fire Department accepts applications year round for volunteers. No previous experience or certifications are required! Many people ask what is required and worry about how much time it may take to be a volunteer firefighter.  The great news is, there is not much required to sustain membership and it takes very little time away from your life, even if you think you are already too busy for most things in life.  See our Training & Meetings page for specific details on requirements to sustain membership.  Rest assured it isn’t much and if you are reading this, do not worry about it and go ahead and complete the steps for becoming a member today!  To enter the application process, applicants must complete the interest card below.  This information will automatically be sent to the BVFD Volunteer Review Chairperson.  You will then be contacted by the Chairperson of the Volunteer Review Committee and later receive all supporting documents from the department needed for the rest of the process.  Follow all instructions in the documents and return them to the department via postal mail, Email or in person within 30 days of receiving the initial application documents.  Once all documents have been reviewed by the Volunteer Review Committee, an interview will be scheduled between the committee and the applicant.  If the Volunteer Review Committee approves the applicant to continue in the process, the applicant will receive a conditional offer of volunteering.  The applicant will be scheduled a time to complete additional forms for a required drug test and background check.  The Fire Chief will review the results of these processes and issue the final volunteer acceptance letter to the applicant.
